New Delhi, Apr 23: Justice S A Bobde, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, was Tuesday appointed to conduct an in-house inquiry into the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
When contacted, Justice Bobde, who is next to the CJI in seniority, confirmed the development.
He said being the number two judge, the Chief Justice of India has appointed him to look into the allegations of sexual harassment charges levelled against him by a former woman staff.
Justice Bobde told that he has decided to form a panel by inducting two apex court judges Justice N V Ramana and Justice Indira Banerjee.
"I decided to have Justice Ramana in the panel as he is next to me in the seniority and Justice Banerjee as she is a woman judge," Justice Bobde said.

Belthangady: The bodies of the three individuals who were murdered in the recent triple murder case in Tumkur have been returned to their homes in Belthangady. The bodies, belonging to auto driver Shahul Hameed, resident of TB in Nada village, Ishaak, resident of Madadka in Kuvettu village and Siddique alias Imtiaz from Shirlaalu, were found burnt along with their car in Kuchchangi Kere, Tumkur, on March 22.
The bodies, which were initially unidentifiable due to being completely burnt, underwent DNA testing for identification. Following the test results, the bodies were returned and reached Ujire this morning, seven days after the incident occurred.
The bodies of Shahul Hameed and Ishaak were taken to Halepet Muhiuddin Juma Masjid, while Siddique's body was taken to Shirlalu Masjid, where their last rites were performed.
