Mangaluru: Renowned Kannada Columnist, Writer and Activist, Shivsundar on Wednesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that the nation in its history has not had a more liar Prime Minister as that of Modi.

Speaking at the anti-CAA, NRC protest in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Shivsundar said “The very first word Modi speaks in his speech is a lie. He says ‘Mitron’, meaning friends. He call us friends and he stabs us directly too. So we are not his friends and the word Mitron is a lie”.

Shivsundar further came down heavily on Mangaluru Police for messing up peaceful protest against CAA and NRC on December 19 in the city and shooting down two people Abdul Jaleel and Nousheen. He opined that protests have been happening in all parts of the country but violence and police firing have only been reported from BJP ruled states.

“People are taking to the streets in every part of the country but police action and firing incidents are only reported from BJP ruled states. In states ruled by non-BJP government the police don’t even finds need of lathi charge.

“This is happening because in BJP ruled states, the police are getting orders from Republic of Kalladka and Republic of Nagpur. They are not working on the orders of Republic of India. Lakhs of people are taking to the streets and they are not being lathi charged. But two hundred people took to the streets in Mangaluru and the local police resorted to gunning them down. This happened because the order came from Republic of Kalladka” Shivsundar added while taking a dig at Kalladka Prabhakar, hardcore RSS leader of Coastal Karnataka and the RSS whose headquarters are based in Nagpur.

He also blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the killing of Nousheen and Abdul Jaleel adding that the PM and HM had created an atmosphere of fear and panic among the people of the country by introducing NRC and CAA and that is what prompted Jaleel and Nousheen to out on streets protesting against it.

Shivsundar further slammed the RSS ideology adding that if they were the real followers of Swami Vivekananda, they should follow what he actually preached and should implement his idea of India.

Warning Modi and Amit Shah of the public ire Shivsundar noted that only the citizens of the country, the tax payers were the owner of the country and that Prime Minsiter, Home Minister, President and every other official was servant to them.

New Delhi (PTI): The BJP on Monday alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is making a false claim about the rise in poverty in the country and urged the Election Commission to take “strict action” against him.

Lodging a complaint with the poll panel, the BJP also accused Gandhi of continuing to create a North-South divide in the country on the basis of language and region to vitiate the poll atmosphere.

A BJP delegation comprising its national general secretary Tarun Chugh and party's national media department in-charge Anil Baluni approached the EC, accusing Gandhi of running a false propaganda against the BJP amid the Lok Sabha elections.

“Rahul Gandhi is running a false campaign that 20 crore more people have become poor in the country while he doesn't have any evidence to back his claim,” Chugh told reporters after the BJP delegation lodged a complaint against the Congress leader with the EC.

He said that the Niti Aayog in its report has said that nearly 25 crore people have come out of the below poverty line during 10 years of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government in the country.

“The Election Commission assured us of taking strict action (against Gandhi) in this connection,” he added.

The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress has hatched a “disgusting conspiracy” to create a divide between North and South on the basis of language and region.

“We have lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Rahul Gandhi in this connection. We told EC that he is a serial and habitual offender of spreading lies, hatching conspiracy and creating confusion. While the country is progressing, Rahul Gandhi is talking about dividing the country on the lines of language and region,” he said.

Chugh asserted that the BJP respects all the languages and it is proud of Tamil language.

“In our (Lok Sabha poll) manifesto, we have reiterated our commitment towards the promotion of Tamil language. But Rahul Gandhi’s actions are disgusting and they have potential to put the country’s internal security in danger,” he told reporters.

“We filed a written complaint with the Election Commission in this connection and also gave links of his speeches, demanding strict action against him,” he added.
