Mangaluru: In a tragic road accident that was reported from Kadri Kambala, a lorry collided with an auto-rickshaw killing a school teacher on the spot and critically injuring auto driver on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified Shailaja Rao, a teacher at local school in Bejai. The injured auto driver has been identified as Vinod (40).
Shailaja was reportedly working as a teacher in Kendriya Vidyalaya from last 22 years at Ekkur. She was currently serving at the Kendiya Vidyalaya in Panambur.
The accident took place when the lorry driver in an attempt to avoid collision with another auto steered the vehicle on the other lane of the road and rammed into the auto of Vinod in which Shailaja was travelling.
After the accident the lorry dragged the auto for about 100 meters wherein Shailaja fell off the auto midway and later Vinod too fell off the auto. Shailaja died on the spot while Vinod has sustained critical injuries.
A case in this regard has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station.

New Delhi, Dec 16: Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has challenged the Citizenship Amendment Act in the Supreme Court and his plea will be heard on Wednesday.
Ramesh has challenged the new law in his personal capacity. He had filed the petition on December 13.
"Given the urgent situation that has developed around the rushed and insidious Citizenship Amendment Act, I approached the Hon'ble Supreme Court to hear my matter urgently.
"The Hon'ble judges have agreed to list my challenge to the same on Wednesday i.e. day after tomorrow," Ramesh said on Twitter.
