Bengaluru: A Kannada daily has published an article under the headline 'MB Patil sparks separate religion row again' on its page 2 on April 16. In which it carried a fake letter issued by the Bijapur Lingayat District Education Association (BLDE), said State Home Minister MB Patil.

Speaking to reporters after filing a complaint with the state's Chief Electoral Officer on Seshadri Road on Wednesday, he said that the letter was created to stigmatize and maliciously blame my name and confuse voters.

"I did not write this letter. It was made to appear as if I signed the correspondence on the letterhead of the BLDE and sent to Sonia Gandhi in 2017, detailing potentical strategies to win the 2018 assembly polls," Patil said.
