Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered at Sanjay Nagar police station in Bengaluru against Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, based on a complaint filed by SIT ADGP M. Chandrashekhar.

A month ago, SIT ADGP M. Chandrashekhar had lodged a complaint at Sanjay Nagar police station against Kumaraswamy, his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and Suresh Babu regarding threats and false allegations. Initially, the police had filed an NCR based on this complaint. Now, following a court order, a case has been registered against all three, including Kumaraswamy.

Chandrashekhar had mentioned in his police complaint that additional evidence related to case number 16/2014, filed against Kumaraswamy, had surfaced. As a result, he sought permission from the Governor to take legal action against him. Following this, on September 28 and 29, Kumaraswamy held press conferences where, according to Chandrashekhar, he made false and malicious allegations and issued threats against him.

Chandrashekhar further alleged in his complaint that he had been verbally threatened with a transfer out of the Karnataka cadre and that Kumaraswamy falsely accused him of continuing in the Karnataka cadre with fake medical records from Bowring Hospital.

The court had been approached for permission to register a case against the Union Minister. The court has now granted permission to investigate the matter, and accordingly, the Sanjay Nagar police have registered the case.

In the FIR, Kumaraswamy is listed as accused no. 1 (A1), Nikhil as accused no. 2 (A2), and Suresh Babu as accused no. 3 (A3).

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.

“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.

The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.

Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.

There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
