Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and CLP leader Siddaramaiah has been appointed as the leader of opposition in the Karnataka Assembly by the party high command.
The announcement was made on Wednesday evening by the party’s state in-charge KC Venugopal, confirming Siddaramaiah’s elevation as the leader of opposition in the state assembly.
The party has also appointed S R Patil as the leader of opposition in Vidhan Parishad.

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday evening urged BS Yediyurappa to take action against BJP MLA Basavanagouda Yatnal for his remarks on senior freedom fighter HS Doreswamy adding that if he fails to take action against Yatnal, then Yatnal’s opinion will be considered to be that of the government as well.
In a tweet Siddaramaiah urged that provocative comments and statements by the BJP leader in Delhi have led to communal violence and complete failure of law and order and that if it is not stopped in Karnataka, such statements will prove to be disasters.
He further asked the CM to be careful and not let things slip out of hands.
Yatnal, earlier today had stroked controversy after he had added that senior freedom fighter HS Doreswamy was a Pakistani agent and a fake freedom fighter.
