Kochi, Aug 26 : Malayalam film director K.K. Haridas died on Sunday following a heart attack at a hospital here, film industry sources said.

Haridas, 52, started his career as an assistant in the 80s and since then has worked as an associate in 48 films before turning into a full time director. He has directed a total of 20 films.

His debut film in 1994 "Vadhu Doctoranu" turned out to be a super hit. His other well known films are "Kakkakum Poochakkum Kalyanam" and "Kinnam Katta Kallan".

New Delhi: Today marks the commencement of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections across the nation, with the second phase of polling underway in 14 constituencies within Karnataka.

Citizens from 93 constituencies spanning 11 states and union territories are exercising their democratic rights. Over 1,300 candidates, including 120 women, are vying for positions in this phase.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured victory in the Surat constituency uncontested. Following the conclusion of the initial two phases on April 19 and 26, the electoral process for the 18th Lok Sabha continues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have already cast their votes at a polling booth in Ahmedabad city, falling under the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency.

The third phase encompasses 2 constituencies in Goa, 25 in Gujarat, 7 in Chhattisgarh, and 14 in Karnataka. Elections in these states will conclude today, alongside voting for Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu constituencies.

Key leaders whose fates will be determined include Home Minister Amit Shah (Gandhinagar, Gujarat), Congress's Digvijaya Singh (Rajgarh), BJP's Shivraj Singh Chauhan (Vidisha), Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav (Mainpuri), NCP's Supriya Sule (Baramati), BJP's Purushottama Rupala (Rajkot), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna), and Pralhad Joshi (Dharwad).

Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, BJP State President BY Vijayendra, and Shimoga Lok Sabha candidate Raghavendra exercised their voting rights at booth number 137 in Shikaripura. Additionally, Chairman Basavaraja Horatti cast his vote at the polling booth located at Lamington School in Hubbali.
