Mumbai: Actor Nana Patekar walked out of the trailer launch event of his upcoming film O Romeo on Wednesday after waiting for nearly an hour for the programme to begin, as his co-stars failed to arrive on time.
The 75-year-old actor reached the venue, a multiplex in Mumbai, at noon as scheduled, but left around 1 pm when the event had not started. A video circulating on social media shows Patekar exiting the auditorium and heading towards the lift while organisers attempted to persuade him to stay. In the footage, he is seen pointing to his watch and declining requests to return.
Director Vishal Bhardwaj later confirmed that Patekar was upset about the delay, quoting him as saying, “Ek ghanta mujhe wait karwaya, main jaa raha hoon.” The film features an ensemble cast including Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey and Tamannaah Bhatia in a special appearance.
Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, who are among the film’s lead actors, reportedly arrived at the venue around 1.30 pm.
Bhardwaj also spoke about Patekar’s personality at the event, describing him as someone who can be outspoken yet engaging, and said he still wanted to acknowledge the veteran actor despite his early departure.
