Doha: In what can be touted as sharp escalation of tensions in West Asia, Iran on Monday reportedly launched six missiles targeting US military bases in Qatar, according to a report by Axios. The move comes in retaliation for American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions over the Qatari capital, Doha, shortly after the missile launches. Both Reuters and AFP cited local sources confirming the blasts.
There has been no immediate confirmation of casualties or damage from either US or Qatari officials.
