Bengaluru: In the first case of model code violation booked against a key political figure ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the Election commission on Thursday filed an FIR against Union Minister and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje over her recent remarks on the people of Tamil Nadu, officials here said.

 


Karnataka Governor returns "temple bill" to Govt seeking clarification

Bengaluru: Seeking clarification, Karnataka Governor has sent back to the government a bill that sought to collect funds from temples with over Rs 10 lakh annual income, citing that a case concerning the earlier related act and amendments made to it is still pending in Supreme Court.

 



Reliance-linked firm gave Rs 375 crore to BJP through electoral bonds, fresh data reveals

New Delhi: Fresh data released by the Election Commission on March 21 revealed that a relatively unknown firm linked to the Reliance Group, Qwik Supply Chain Private Limited, donated a substantial amount of Rs 375 crore to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through electoral bonds. Additionally, the company also allocated Rs 35 crore worth of bonds to the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party.
