Two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers were killed and one was seriously injured in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Sunday, officials said.

At a time when major political parties in Tamil Nadu are opposed to the Central government's proposal of 'One India, One Election', actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth on Sunday came out in support of it.

Speaking to reporters here, Rajinikanth said 'One India, One Election' is a good idea as it would save time and money of political parties.

The heavy rains continued to lash the district even on Sunday too. As the heavy rain is coupled with gusty wind, people have been facing problems. Because of heavy rains and gusty wind, a house was collapsed at Petekere near Balehonnur on Sunday. 

Ullal police arrested an accused who was absconding from attending the court in several cases.

The arrested is identified as Mukhtar (24) of Bottu of Dharmanagar in Ullal. He was facing many cases including attempt to murder, assault and others at Ullal and Barke police stations.

Six members of a family committed mass suicide in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district, police said on Sunday. The victims were Naresh Maheswari, a resident of the district's Munga Bagicha area, his parents, his wife and two of their children.

The first team of Hajjis from India reached King Abdul Azeez Airport of Munnavar in Madina on Saturday. The Hajj Volunteers Core (HVC) volunteers of Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) welcomed the Hajjis by serving water and dates. Later, they helped the Hajjis to shift their luggage to their accommodations.

A jaguar escaped his enclosure at a zoo in the US and killed six other animals. Audubon Zoo in New Orleans said the three-year-old male jaguar, named Valero, was spotted outside his enclosure by a zoo employee on Saturday morning, reports CNN.
