Nikesh Arora named CEO of Palo Alto Networks
San Francisco, June 3: Former Chief Business Officer at Google, Nikesh Arora has been named the CEO and Chairman of the US-based security firm Palo Alto Networks.
After leaving Google in mid-2014, the high-profile executive became president of SoftBank and was heir apparent to its charismatic founder Masayoshi Son. But Arora left two years later amid some controversy, recode.net reported on Friday.
Arora has replaced Mark McLaughlin, who will now serve the cybersecurity company as Vice Chairman.
Arora said that while he had long wanted to become a CEO, he would be working closely with McLaughlin and also co-founder and CTO Nir Zuk, the report said.
"I may not have a background in security, but with my background as an engineer, I can sit down with Zuk to help guide the next generation of products we can offer," recode.net quoted Arora as saying.
McLaughlin said that the decade-old Palo Alto Networks now serves 50,000 companies globally and has 5,000 employees.

Son bids tearful farewell to martyred BSF Officer Mohammed Imteyaz amid tributes from leaders
Patna/New Delhi: A wave of grief and pride swept through Bihar as BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz, who was martyred in cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s RS Pura sector, was laid to rest with full honours on Monday. Political leaders, family members, and citizens gathered to pay their last respects to the brave officer who laid down his life for the nation on May 10.
His son, Imran, recalled his final conversation with his father at 5:30 am on the day of the incident. “My father was a very strong person. I am extremely proud of him. He had sustained injuries to his right leg in a drone attack. That was the last time I spoke with him,” Imran said, tearfully. He appealed to the government for a strong response to such acts so that no other child has to suffer such a loss.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with Bihar ministers Shravan Kumar and Nitin Nabin, and Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, visited the family to express their condolences.
“We are proud of Sub-Inspector Mohammed Imteyaz, who made the supreme sacrifice for the country. Because of brave soldiers like him, we sleep peacefully. The armed forces have given a befitting reply to Pakistan,” said Tejashwi Yadav.
Minister Shravan Kumar echoed the sentiment, stating, “We are proud that Bihar’s son has upheld the honour of the nation. The central government and Prime Minister Modi stands with his family.”
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal added, “The country will never forget his sacrifice. We salute his bravery and stand by his family in this hour of grief.”
