Riyadh: The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia has advised American citizens to reconsider travel to the country, including participation in the annual Hajj pilgrimage, amid the ongoing regional conflict.

In a travel advisory, the embassy urged US nationals to exercise caution and review their plans in light of the current security situation.

It specifically advised Americans to reconsider “participation in Hajj this year” to the holy city of Mecca.

Mangaluru: A prisoner was caught trying to smuggle a mobile phone into jail by hiding it in his rectum while returning from hospital treatment, in an incident reported on Wednesday.

According to police, the prisoner, identified as Muhammed Tohid, had been admitted as an inpatient at Wenlock Hospital on April 24 for treatment. He was discharged on April 29 and was brought back to the district prison at Kodialbail around 5.15 pm.


While entering the prison, personnel of Karnataka State Industrial Security Force conducted a routine check using a scanning device. The machine indicated a signal near the rectal area. When questioned, the prisoner admitted that he had concealed a mobile phone.

Police said the prisoner was taken back to the hospital, where doctors removed a keypad mobile phone. A case has been registered by Barke Police Station in connection with the incident.
