Jaipur, Sep 5: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the 2017 Pehlu Khan lynching case on Thursday submitted its report to the Rajsthan DGP, a source said.
He said the report will soon be presented before Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The chief minister had ordered a fresh investigation into the case and decided to follow it up with an appeal against the acquittal of all six accused in the case by an Alwar court last month.
The SIT under the supervision of state's additional director general of police (Crime) was constituted.
The chief minister had taken the decision two days after an Alwar court acquitted all six people, accused of leading a mob of suspected cow vigilantes to attack and lynch 55-year-old Pehlu Khan, a dairy farmer from Nuh district of Haryana.
Khan was lynched near Alwar while he was returning to his hometown in Haryana after buying cattle from Rajasthan.
The Alwar court on August 14 acquitted all six adult accused in the case, giving them the benefit of doubt.
Three other juveniles allegedly involved in the case are still facing enquiry by a Juvenile Justice Board.
The SIT was constituted to identify errors and irregularities in the investigation and fix the responsibility for botched up investigation on individual officers.
DIG (Special Operation Group) Nitin Deep Ballagan heads the special probe team, which also includes SP (CID-CB) Sameer Kumar Singh and ASP (Vigilance) Sameer Dubey.

Godda (PTI): Two persons were arrested for allegedly strangling to death a three-year-old girl and dumping her body into a well in Jharkhand’s Godda district, police said on Friday.
The incident took place at Makudi village within Muffasil police station limits on Thursday night, they said.
Villagers said they spotted a man identified as Prem Murmu (50) near the well at night and, suspecting foul play, informed the police.
"The kid's body was recovered from the well soon after, and Murmu was detained for questioning," said Anand Shah, the officer-in-charge of Muffasil police station.
During interrogation, Murmu told police that he and his friend Jarmen Soren (30) had killed the kid. Both were later arrested, Saha said.
"The accused were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. They have not yet revealed the motive behind the killing. This has led to suspicion that the girl might have been raped," the OC said.
The duo have been sent to judicial custody after registering an FIR at the police station, police said.
