39 trafficked Nepali girls rescued in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 1 : The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Wednesday said that it rescued 39 Nepali women, who had become victims of human trafficking.
The Commission said that it received a tip-off and rescued the girls from Hotel Hridey Inn in Delhi's Paharganj area on Tuesday night.
"The raid lasted the entire night and assistance was provided by Delhi Police. The entire hotel only had trafficked Nepali girls who were being sent to Gulf countries," DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said.
In a similar incident earlier, the Commission had rescued 18 women -- two of them were from Bengal and the rest were Nepali.
Last week, DCW rescued 16 Nepali girls who were about to be trafficked to Gulf countries.
"Within a week 3 rescue operations, 73 Nepali girls were rescued from Munirka, Maidangarhi and Paharganj," Maliwal tweeted.
"The poorest of the poor women and girls of Nepal are being exploited. True, Delhi is slowly becoming Trafficking Capital of the world!" she added.

Death toll from Israeli strikes in northeast Lebanon rises from 8 to 24, Lebanese news agency says
Deir al-Balah, Nov 1: Israeli airstrikes on Friday killed at least 24 people in northeastern Lebanon, the country's news agency said, raising the death toll from eight there.
It was the latest deadly toll in the area since the conflict between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah escalated last month.
Israel's military has said that its operation in Lebanon is targeting Hezbollah's military infrastructure.
Lebanon's state National news Agency reported four airstrikes in different villages across country's northeast, saying rescuers were still searching for survivors in Younine, a town in the Bekaa Valley, from the rubble of a targeted house.
Hussein Haj Hassan, a Lebanese lawmaker representing the region in Baalbek-Hermel region, said that 60,000 people have already fled their homes in the area due to Israeli bombardment.
