Kolkatta: A horrific incident has shaken Kolkata, where a seven-month-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped while sleeping on a pavement with her parents. The incident occurred in the Burtolla area of Kolkata on November 30.

According to police, a local resident found the infant crying on the pavement around 1:45 pm and immediately informed the authorities. The child's parents had been searching for her and eventually reunited with her at the police station.

The infant was rushed to R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, where doctors found multiple injuries on her private parts and scratches all over her body. The child was admitted to the Pediatric ICU and is currently in stable condition.

Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and launched an investigation. Despite questioning over a dozen suspects, no arrests have been made yet.

Hospital officials stated that the infant's condition is improving, and she has started eating. A team of four doctors is monitoring her condition, and her health is expected to improve further in the coming days.

Mangaluru: Two girl students drowned while bathing near the Kolyadakatta dam area of the Gundya river on Friday evening here in the Kadaba Taluk of the district.

The deceased have been identified as Arpita (15) and Sunita (21), both residents of Vimalagiri in Kutrupadi village.

According to reports, five girl students had visited the river along with their friends as it was a holiday. While bathing in the river, the two students reportedly entered a deeper portion of the water without realising the depth and began drowning.

Those accompanying them tried to rescue the duo, but were unsuccessful, leading to the tragedy.

After receiving information about the incident, Kadaba Police Station personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were later recovered with the help of local residents.
