Mumbai: An Air India flight from Mumbai to San Francisco was rescheduled from Monday to Tuesday without prior notice, leading to inconvenience for passengers. The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 1:25 PM on August 26, was postponed to 9:00 AM on August 27. The lack of a clear explanation from the airline led to confusion and distress among travellers.
An Air India spokesperson attributed the delay to operational reasons, stating, “Air India flight AI179 of 26 August 2024 on the Mumbai-San Francisco sector has been rescheduled and is now expected to depart Mumbai at 9 am of 27 August 2024 due to operational reasons. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen delay,” as reported by Hindustan Times.
Passengers reported multiple delays and a lack of information from ground staff. One passenger told HT, “The flight was to leave at 1:25 PM on Monday and it was rescheduled to 3:45 PM. Later, an announcement was made that the flight would leave at 7:00 PM. At 5:00 PM, they announced that the flight was cancelled. The ground staff had no clue about what was going on.” Another passenger expressed frustration over missing connecting flights and wasted time.
Meanwhile, the Air India spokesperson assured that ground staff at Mumbai airport were providing support, including hotel accommodations and options for full refunds or complimentary rescheduling.

Raichur (Karnataka) (PTI): Fire broke out near the stage of the mass marriage event that was attended by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar here, police said on Sunday.
Nobody was affected, and the fire was immediately put out, they said.
The fire was noticed shortly after Shivakumar and other dignitaries left the stage, and Forest Minister Eshwaran Khandre was speaking to the media at the venue in Sindhanur, officials said.
According to officials, wires, speakers, and cloth materials near the stage caught fire, allegedly due to a short circuit.
Police personnel present at the spot quickly swung into action and extinguished the fire.
The programme was halted for some time and resumed later, they said.
Several ministers, legislators and political leaders from the region, and actor Sudeep had attended the event.
