Hyderabad: Telugu actor Allu Arjun has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the stampede that occurred during the premiere of his latest movie, Pushpa 2: The Rise. The incident claimed the life of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, and left her eight-year-old son hospitalised.

The stampede happened on December 4 at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre when a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor. Following the tragedy, a case was filed against Allu Arjun and the theatre management under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint by Revathi's family.

Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar, today expressed his willingness to withdraw the case, stating that Allu Arjun was not responsible for the incident. "I was not aware of the arrest and Allu Arjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away," he told reporters.

The actor was taken into custody on December 13. He has also sought the Telangana High Court’s intervention to quash the FIR against him.

Further updates on the case are awaited.
