New Delhi: The Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called on border states to remain on high alert and fully prepared to handle any potential emergencies. Chairing a high-level video confenrence with Lieutenant Governors of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Chief Ministers of seven states, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, and a representative from Sikkim, Shah also asked state and UT administrations to ensure continuity of essential services including healthcare, firefighting, and the steady supply of essential goods.

The state governments were instructed to put disaster response teams, civil defence troops, Home Guards, and NCC cadets on standby. The most important item on the agenda was counter-disinformation drives, particularly ones launched from the other side of the border.

Shah issued a strong warning with regards to anti-national propaganda on social media and urged immediate, coordinated action with central agencies to monitor and prevent false information. During the meeting, the leaders collectively praised the armed forces and the central government for the successful execution of the 24-strike operation targeting nine terror locations.

Hospet: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday alleged large-scale tampering of postal ballots in the Sringeri constituency.

Speaking to the media near the Tungabhadra Dam, he said, “A large-scale crime has taken place in Sringeri. Tampering has been done using officials. More than 200 ballot papers have been tampered with.”

He further alleged that postal ballots were manipulated despite signatures being recorded during counting, calling it a “shame for the country.”

“They have tampered with the votes of our MLAs. Similar tampering has taken place in Jayanagar too. This is an insult to democracy. There should be a thorough investigation into this. The law will take its course. We will go to court,” he said.
