Mumbai: In a new development in Maharashtra politics, two leaders from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) returned to party president Sharad Pawar’s camp on Monday just hours after attending Ajit Pawar’s swearing-in ceremony at the Raj Bhawan.
Shirur MP Amol Kolhe and Makarand Patil, party legislatory from Wai constituency in Satara district were among those who took a U-turn and joined Sharad Pawar’s side.
Kolhe mentioned that he will remain loyal to party supremo Sharad Pawar and it was morality that drove him to take this decision. The actor-turned-politician shared on Twitter that whenever there is a conflict between the mind and heart, it is ideal to listen to the heart. He added that the mind may forget about morality sometimes, however, the heart never forgets it.
Sharad Pawar was joined by Makarand Patil in Shirwal on Monday morning who welcomed the NCP president and was by his side throughout the day. When questioned about his stance, Patil gave his answer in a single sentence, reported The Indian Express. “You all can see where I am sitting through the day,” he stated.
Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar factions of the NCP will hold separate meetings on Wednesday. This will be the first meeting after the NCP spilt on Sunday after Ajit Pawar and eight other MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government that will involve all functionaries of Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar factions. Both the groups have asserted that they have the support of maximum number of MLAs.

The rate hike comes within days of Rs 2 per kg increase in rates on Thursday.
Rates of gas piped to household kitchens, called piped natural gas, however, remain unchanged.
IGL said, "The retail selling price of CNG has been increased by Re 1/kg wef 6 am on 17.05.2026 in all geographical areas (GAs) of IGL".
"The revision in retail prices of CNG has been effected only to marginally offset the impact of increase in input gas cost along with steep appreciation of USD," it said.
Even after the latest revision, CNG would still offer up to 45 per cent savings towards the running cost when compared to vehicles running on alternate fuel at the current level of prices.
