Medinipur (WB) (PTI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday led a colourful road show in this Paschim Medinipur district town in support of Trinamool Congress candidates for the assembly elections.

People lined the streets through which Banerjee's road show passed, adorned with party flags and balloons.

The TMC supremo walked nearly 2 km from College Ground to Lord Jagannath temple in Medinipur town, greeting people with folded hands.

She was accompanied by party MP from Medinipur Lok Sabha constituency, June Malia, and local TMC leaders and workers.

New Delhi: The countdown has begun for the counting of votes for the Assembly elections in five states that have captured the attention of people across the country.

The counting of votes for the Assembly constituencies of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and the Union Territory of Puducherry will begin simultaneously at 8 am, and the fate of candidates in a total of 824 constituencies will be decided shortly.

The counting of postal ballots will take place first, followed by the counting of EVM votes in several rounds.
