New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to field Hasmukh S Patel from Ahmedabad-East Lok Sabha constituency, thus replacing actor-politician Paresh Rawal. Patel was the BJP MLA in 2012 and in 2017.

Paresh Rawal had earlier said that he wished to not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“I had told the party four-five months ago that I do not want to contest the elections. But, ultimately it is the party’s decision,” he said.

On the other hand, Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly Paresh Dhanani on Wednesday filed his nomination to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha poll from Amreli constituency on the Congress’ ticket.

Dhanani, who is pitted against sitting BJP MP Naran Kachhadia, submitted his nomination papers to Amreli district magistrate and returning officer Aayush Oak. The 42-year-old MLA won the state election from Amreli Assembly seat in 2017, 2012 and 2002.
