Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is abuzz with discussions surrounding the recent emergence of Sanjay Saroj in the state's politics, prompting criticism from Samajwadi Party (SP) leader IP Singh towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh accused the BJP of welcoming Sanjay Saroj, a figure associated with terrorist funding, onto their platform, citing his presence at a recent BJP event where he was honored by BJP MP Sangam Lal Gupta.

Taking to Twitter, SP leader IP Singh voiced his concerns, stating, "BJP MP Sangam Lal Gupta honoring Sanjay Saroj, who was accused of terrorist funding, on the BJP platform. He was included in the BJP. All sins are washed away in the BJP washing machine, public is watching everything."

The inclusion of Sanjay Saroj in the BJP has stirred controversy in Uttar Pradesh's political circles. During a recent BJP event, a BJP MP bestowed upon Sanjay Saroj a saffron shawl, symbolizing his induction into the party. This development has sparked widespread discussions and garnered criticism from opposition leaders aimed at the BJP.

Sanjay Saroj's entry into politics comes after his arrest by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in March 2018 in connection with a terror funding case. The UP ATS arrested Saroj, along with 10 others, for alleged links to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Following his release on bail, Saroj transitioned into the politics, with his wife contesting and winning an election.
