Amroha: A video allegedly from Amroha district of UP, which has gone viral on social media, shows a group of burqa-clad youths stepping to the beats of a song from the movie Dhurandhar. The video clip, whose exact date could not be confirmed, which is believed to be from a programme at Mesco Public School, has ignited sharp outrage. According to a report by Live Hindustan, the video is believed to be from a school programme held ahead of the winter vacation.

The said video was first published by a social media handle named ‘Team Rising Falcon’, in which three youths are wearing burqas, while spectators are seen watching, clapping, and a few even joining the performance on the dais. The social media handle, while publishing the video, alleged that the act was deliberately meant to mock Muslim religious identity. The controversial clip has sparked harsh online criticism, with many netizens calling the performance insulting.

“This is not harmless entertainment. It is ridiculing religious attire and risks disturbing social harmony,” the post said, urging the Amroha police to take action and identify those involved. “Religious mockery and hate in the name of entertainment must not be normalised,” it added.

So far, none of the individuals seen in the video have been identified, and the police have not issued any official statement on the matter. The report added that the issue has not formally reached the police and that the school management is reportedly trying to defuse the situation by apologising to alumni and others offended by the performance.
