New Delhi, Sep 21: Delhi Police have arrested a 39-year-old Chinese man, who had been living in the country with an Indian passport for at least six years, an official said here on Friday.
A case has been registered against Tsao Lung for violating the Passport Act and the Foreigners Act along with cheating and forgery under the Indian Penal Code. His illegally obtained passport and Aadhaar card have been seized.
The police official told IANS on Friday that Tsao had been living in India with the name Charlie Peng. He was arrested on September 13 from north Delhi's Majnu Ka Tilla.
However, no case was filed under the Official Secrets Act amid rumours that he was running a spy ring.
"We can't confirm whether he was here as a secret agent. However, in the course of investigation, we won't rule out that possibility," the official said.
Lung had Rs 3.4 lakh, $2,200, and 20,000 Thai baht, which have been confiscated. According to the police, he married a girl from Mizoram and was currently staying in Gurugram.

New Delhi (PTI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday termed the BJP's victory in Bengal and Assam assembly polls a "theft" of the mandate, and a big step forward in the saffron party's mission to "destroy" Indian democracy.
Gandhi also came out in support of the TMC, which has been trounced by the BJP in the polls, and urged those gloating over the loss of Mamata Banerjee's party to put petty politics aside.
"Some in the Congress, and others, are gloating about TMC's loss. They need to understand this clearly - the theft of Assam and Bengal's mandate is a big step forward by the BJP in its mission to destroy Indian democracy," Gandhi said in a post on X.
"Put petty politics aside. This is not about one party or another. This is about India," he said in his post.
The BJP ousted Trinamool Congress from power in Bengal and captured power for the third time in a row in Assam in results of assembly polls declared on Monday.
