Delhi family deaths: Eyes of deceased donated
New Delhi, July 2: The eyes of the 11 members of a family who were found dead here - 10 hanging from the ceiling and one body on the floor - were donated to an eye bank on Monday.
The eyes of the deceased were donated to the Guru Nanak Eye Centre as the relatives said the family was religious and always wanted to help others.
"The family always helped others and by donating their eyes they can help 22 people as one pair of eyes can give sight to two people," a relative told media on Monday.
The bodies will be taken to Nigambodh Ghat here on Monday evening for cremation from the Maulana Azad Medical College here where they were kept for the post-mortem.
The Delhi Police is investigating the matter from all the possible angles as it recovered handwritten notes from the prayer area of the two-storey house in Burari area of north Delhi, revealing a possible mystical connection to the deaths.
All but one of the bodies were found hanging from the ceiling. Most of them were blindfolded, gagged and their hands tied behind the back. The oldest, Narayan Devi, 77, was found on the floor with signs of strangulation.

'Shocked' SC summons police commissioner, IO on Apr 13 in Ghaziabad rape-murder case of minor
New Delhi (PTI): Expressing deep shock, the Supreme Court on Friday intervened in the harrowing rape-murder case of a four-year-old girl in Ghaziabad and summoned the police commissioner and the investigating officer on April 13 with the case records.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi took note of the submissions of senior lawyer N Hariharan, appearing for the victim's father, a daily wager, and expressed its displeasure over the manner in which the state police had conducted the investigation so far in the case.
The CJI lambasted the state police and two private hospitals, which refused to treat the girl before she succumbed to her injuries post-alleged rape, for their "complete indifference" and "insensitive approach".
On March 16, the victim was allegedly lured away by a neighbour on the pretext of buying chocolates and when the child did not return, a search led the father to find her lying unconscious and covered in blood. She later succumbed to her injuries at a government hospital in Ghaziabad.
