Kolkata (PTI): An FIR has been lodged against senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh at Durgapur Police Station for his remarks on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, an official said on Thursday.

Ghosh has been booked under IPC sections dealing with "intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace" and "word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman", he said.

He had apologised on Wednesday for his comments on Banerjee, which had triggered a political storm.

Sources indicate that Dr. Anjali encountered the injured motorcyclist while returning from her campaign on Thursday evening. The incident unfolded on the Yellapur-Sirsi Highway, where the rider was found injured and unattended. Dr. Anjali halted her journey and extended a helping hand, arranging for the rider's transportation to a nearby medical facility.

In her online post, which featured snapshots of the incident, Dr. Anjali expressed her heartfelt wishes for the swift recovery and comprehensive treatment of the injured individual.
