New Delhi: Sasikanth Senthil, the former Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district and ex-IAS officer, was sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha today.

Sasikanth Senthil took the oath in Tamil while holding the Constitution, drawing significant attention. After taking the oath, he addressed the parliament, stating, "Stop the shameful atrocities against minorities, Dalits, and Adivasis. Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan."

Senthil, who contested and won the Thiruvallur constituency seat in Tamil Nadu as a Congress candidate had achieved a record victory margin of 5,72,155 votes.

Initially a software engineer, Senthil transitioned into the education sector before successfully clearing the UPSC examination. As a 2009 batch IAS officer, he served in various capacities before resigning from his services to join the Congress party.

Senthil played a crucial role in establishing the Congress war room during the 2023 Karnataka assembly elections and continued his strategic contributions in managing the party's efforts during the Lok Sabha elections.

Bengaluru: Lokayukta police have arrested a KAS officer and his driver for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 30 lakh bribe to pass a favourable order in a pending RRT case.

The accused have been identified as Nagaprashanth (KAS), serving as Special Assistant Commissioner (North) and Special Land Acquisition Officer-1, KIADB, and Kumar, a driver associated with his office, Deccan Herald reported.

Based on a complaint by Ravi Kumar, a resident of Attur in Yelahanka, Lokayukta team laid a trap.

According to investigators, the accused had demanded Rs 30 lakh, of which Rs 15 lakh was allegedly collected earlier by the driver on the officer’s instructions.

On Wednesday, the driver was caught red-handed while accepting the remaining Rs 15 lakh, leading to the arrest of both him and the officer.

Both accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
