Lucknow, June 5: Four persons of a family, including a police constable, were killed on the Yamuna Expressway on Tuesday when the car in which they were travelling was hit by another vehicle, police said.

Three others were injured in the accident which happened near the Fatiha cut in Farha area. The family was headed to Mathura to perform a religious ritual.

Between January and May, 10 persons have died on this spot and more than a dozen have been injured in road accidents.

The constable, Rajendra Pal Singh, was posted in Aligarh. The others who died were identified as his wife Sridevi, son Narendra Singh and niece Pooja.

Byndoor: An attempt to transport cattle in an insulated vehicle designed for carrying fish came to light after the vehicle, being driven at high speed, toppled near Karikatte in Shiroor on Thursday night.

The vehicle, traveling from Bhatkal taluk in Uttara Kannada district to Byndoor, was loaded with trays of fish, with cattle placed in between. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near Durgambika Halla at Karikatte, causing it to overturn on the road.

As the vehicle toppled, the cattle being transported along with the fish became visible. The driver is said to have fled the scene immediately after the accident.

A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
