Fourth arrest made in murders of Dabholkar, Pansare, Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh
Mumbai : In a major breakthrough, the Maharashtra ATS on Sunday arrested Srikanth Pangarkar, 40, from Jalna in a crude bomb case making it the fourth arrest in the case.
Sources in the Karnataka SIT said Pangarkar is linked to all four murder cases of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh.
Pangarkar is also a former Shiv Sena corporator from Jalna. Sources said his arrest is a big catch and could lead to many more arrest.
The Maharashtra ATS had last week arrested three persons, Vaibhav Raut and Sharad Kalaskar from Nalasopara while Sudhanva Gondhalekar from Pune. A massive quantity of explosives and firearms were recovered from them. Several bombs, bomb making equipment and firearms were seized including a bike and a car The ATS said the accused were planning something very big.
Cased on interrogations conducted on these three accused, Sachin Andure was picked up by the ATS and handed over to CBI as he was the sharp shooter in the Narendra Dabholkar murder case. Andure was produced in a CBI court in Pune today and remanded to custody.
Karnataka SIT had shared info with Maharashtra ATS. The accused is one of the masterminds in all the mentioned the murder cases. The ATS had also recovered two guns which were used in the murders of all four - Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh.
Srikanth Pangarkar was the one who started an underground nameless organisation to assassinate rationalists. The accused would talk in code language and never revealed each other's names.
The accused will be produced before court today.

4 workers die after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad
Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
