Goa to have uniform colour code for government buildings, it won’t be saffron: CM Sawant
Panaji (PTI): Goa will soon have a uniform colour code for government buildings in the coastal state to improve their visual appeal, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said.
“To improve the visual appeal of government buildings, I propose to paint all government buildings with a uniform colour code,” he said.
When interrupted by the Opposition, the CM of the BJP-ruled state quipped that the colour won’t be "saffron".
He also said that the structural audit of all state government buildings would be done.
“The structural audit of government buildings has already been taken up. Based on the outcome of the detailed consultancy report, remedial measures (to strengthen the structures) will be undertaken on a fast track mode,” he said.
In the budget, the government has also proposed to take up the structural audit of all heritage buildings in the state, followed by the "restoration of all heritage buildings as per need".
The budget has proposed an allocation of Rs 273 crore for the construction of new government buildings, and maintenance and repairs of old structures.
“The repair work of South Goa’s Old Collectorate and Police Headquarters buildings has already begun,” he said.
The chief minister also proposed various eco-friendly initiatives, including vertical gardens to tackle heat islands in urban areas.
Sawant said that a new policy on road engineering and design will be introduced to construct green corridors along major highways to improve aesthetics and public safety.

KSRTC to run 1000 special services to clear Christmas rush
Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate 1000 additional special services in view of the Christmas festival.
In addition to the existing schedule, the special services will run on 19.12.2025, 20.12.2025 and 24.12.2025. Further, special buses will be operated from various places of intra & Interstate places to Bengaluru on 26.12.2025 & 28.12.2025.
Special buses will be exclusively operated from Bengaluru Kempegowda Bus Station to Dharmastala, Kukkesubramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Shringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubbali, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Hyderabad and other places.

Special buses from Mysuru Road Bus Station will be exclusively operated towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, Madikeri.
The corporation has also announced a discount of 5 per cent on the fare if four or more passengers book tickets under a single reservation. A discount of 10 per cent will be extended on return journey tickets if onward and return tickets are booked simultaneously.
In addition to the above, special buses will be operated from all Taluk/District Bus Stands in the jurisdiction of KSRTC based on the traffic needs.
