Ghaziabad: A tech-savvy individual exposed an alleged scammer in Ghaziabad after infiltrating his laptop and hijacking his webcam feed.
The accused, identified as Manish Kumar, is alleged to have been running a tech support fraud operation from his apartment. His method reportedly involved posing as Anti-Virus Guard (AVG) support, using fake Google ads to lure victims, and then seeking remote access to their computers under the pretext of solving fabricated issues.
The revelations surfaced after an X user, who goes by the handle NanoBaiter, claimed to have gained access to Kumar’s device while countering a scam attempt. “When I hacked into his laptop and switched on the live webcam feed, he instantly panicked and blocked the camera view with his hand,” the user posted.
According to the account, the hacker managed to extract files, monitor Kumar’s screen in real time, and even download sensitive identification documents, including his Aadhaar card, PAN card, and passport. He further claimed to have matched the photos from the documents with Kumar’s live webcam feed, confirming his identity.
The incident has since gone viral on social media, with many users applauding the hacker’s actions. Some even claimed to recognize the apartment complex shown in the screenshots and urged the police to take immediate action.
NanoBaiter also tagged the Ghaziabad Police and Uttar Pradesh Police, calling for an investigation into Kumar’s alleged activities. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
