If I was PM, would have thrown demonetisation file in dustbin: Rahul
Kuala Lumpur: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took everyone by surprise with his reply when he was asked how he would have rolled out demonetisation had he been in the government.
His reply was: "If I was the Prime Minister, and someone had given me a file with demonetisation written on it, I would have thrown it in the dustbin."
"out through the door, and into the junkyard. That is what I think should be done with demonetisation," Gandhi said here while interacting with the Indian diaspora in Malaysia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016, announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes would cease to be legal tender.
The Congress party and most of the other opposition parties have been critical of the Prime Minister's demotisation move, saying it has caused huge damage to the Indian economy.

Senior YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy to resign as RS member, to quit politics
Amaravati, Jan 24 (PTI): YSRCP Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy on Friday said he will be resigning from his parliament membership on January 25.
In a post on 'X', he said he is not joining any other party and also quitting politics.
"I am quitting politics. I am resigning from the Rajya Sabha membership tomorrow, ( January) 25th . I will not join any political party. I am not resigning hoping for any position, benefits, or money. This decision is completely my personal one. There was no pressure. No one influenced me," he said in the post.
Reddy is currently serving his second term as Rajya Sabha member from YSRCP from Andhra Pradesh.
He is one of the key figures in former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party in the state.
