New Delhi: Kobbi Shoshani, the Consul General of Israel to Midwest India in Mumbai, stirred controversy on Friday by sharing a misleading video on X (formerly Twitter), falsely asserting that Palestinian children were faking injuries to portray Israeli oppression.
Shoshani's post, accompanied by the caption "Bollywood, you have fake competition in Gaza," was flagged by X as misleading. The video, which shows a Red Crescent worker rescuing a girl while others with cameras and a director appear in the background, was clarified as behind-the-scenes footage of a Lebanese short film.
The misleading content prompted X to include a note, stating, "This video is from a behind-the-scenes look at a Lebanese short film: 'The video does not pretend to "stage" fabricate a Palestinian victim to feed her to the media against Israel, it is a short film shot in Lebanon in support of the Palestinian cause."
Fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt News, also flagged Shoshani's video, calling it "FAKE NEWS" and clarifying that it was a Lebanese artistic tribute shot in support of the Palestinian cause.
This is not the first time Shoshani has courted controversy during the recent escalation of tensions between Israel and Palestine. Since October 7, 2023, he has been involved in several controversies, sharing misleading content and making controversial remarks against Palestine.
In a previous instance, Shoshani accused Mohammed Zubair of spreading fake news when Zubair exposed misleading claims made by Israeli officials against Palestine.

Lucknow (PTI): Adverse weather forced an IndiGo Kolkata-Patna flight to make an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Friday, airport sources said.
According to airport officials, weather conditions in Patna deteriorated suddenly on Friday afternoon, affecting flight operations.
IndiGo flight 6E 6917 from Kolkata, which was scheduled to land in Patna at 3.50 pm, could not land due to bad weather and kept circling in the air after failing to get clearance from air traffic control, they said.
The flight was later diverted to Lucknow and landed safely at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 5.15 pm. There were 180 passengers and six crew members on board, officials said.
The aircraft was later allowed to depart for Patna after weather conditions improved.
