Kangana’s old post justifying Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at Oscars goes viral
Chandigarh: An old Instagram story of actor-turned-politician MP Kangana Ranaut, justifying Will Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock at an Oscar ceremony, has gone viral amidst the controversy surrounding a female CISF constable slapping her at Chandigarh airport on Thursday.
On March 27, 2022, Actor Will Smith had gone over the stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock for making fun of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith for her shaved head, at 94th Academy Awards in the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood. Jada was suffering from alopecia areata, also known as spot baldness, which she believed to have been a result of stress. Smith’s violent outburst at a comic statement had received mix reaction worldwide. Justifying the controversial act, actor Kangana Ranaut had put an Instagram story which read, “If some idiot used my mom or sister’s illness to make bunch of fools laugh I would slap him like @willsmith did…bad ass move.. hope he comes to my #lockup”. The story had the picture of the actor slapping the comedian.
Kulwinder Kaur, the CISF woman constable who slapped the MP, hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab. After her controversial act, she stated that it was a reaction to a statement made by the actress regarding farmers’ protests. Kaur alleged that during the farmers protest in Delhi, Kangana had stated that the protesters were doing it for hundred rupees. “Will she go and sit there for 100 rupees? My mother was one of the protesters during that time”, she said. Her brother Sher Singh Mahival, who is also a farmers' leader, endorsed her statement later.

Reacting to a photo of farmers’ protesting against the farm laws in 2020, Kangana Ranaut had wrongly assumed a woman in the pic to be Bilkis, an 82 year old woman famous for her protest against the CAA at Shaheen Bagh in 2020. Kangana Ranaut wrote in a now deleted tweet, “Ha ha ha she is the same dadi who featured in Time magazine for being the most powerful Indian… And she is available in 100 rupees. Pakistani jurno’s have hijacked international PR for India in an embarrassing way. We need our own people to speak for us internationally”. Many prominent personalities, including actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, had severely criticized her post.
However, the first time BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has strongly reacted to the statement of Kulwinder Kaur. Kangana Ranaut took to her X account on Saturday to say that “Every rapist, murderer or thief always have a strong emotional, physical, psychological or financial reason to commit a crime, no crime ever happens without a reason, yet they are convicted and sentenced to jail”. If anybody agreed with a person who broke into someone’s personal space then they were justifying rapes and murders, she said. Ranaut also advised people to take up yoga and meditation in order to stop life from becoming a ‘bitter and burdensome experience’. “Don’t carry so much grudge, hate and jealousy please , free yourself”, she added.

Schools in Mizoram's nine districts closed due to rain
Aizawl (PTI): All schools in nine districts of Mizoram remained closed on Tuesday due to heavy rain that has been lashing the northeastern state since the day before, an official said.
School Education Director Angela Zothanpuii said administrations of nine districts, including Aizawl, Kolasib, Lunglei and Mamit, announced school closure on Tuesday as a precautionary measure for students' safety.
However, schools in the southern districts of Hnahthial and Lawngtlai remained open following a slight improvement in weather conditions there, she said.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Serchhip recorded the highest rainfall at 70.5 mm in a 24-hour period, followed by Hnahthial 55 mm, Siaha 37.5 mm, and Aizawl 36 mm.
Khawzawl district reported 30 mm of rainfall, Mamit 25.9 mm, Kolasib 25 mm, Lawngtlai 17.5 mm, and Lunglei 2.2 mm during the same period, it said.
The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning in Mizoram on Tuesday.
