Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has assured that authorities will take necessary action if reports of a Kashmiri student being ragged and assaulted at Karnataka Medical College are found to be true.

Speaking on the incident, Parameshwara stated that the local police would act if a complaint is filed or if the case requires suo-motu registration. "If there is anything like that, the local police will take action. If there is a complaint or if something has to be registered suo-motu, the local police will do it," he said.

The minister emphasized that strict anti-ragging measures are in place at educational institutions. "There are standing instructions that there should be no ragging in educational institutions. Anti-ragging committees must be formed in every institution, as per the law," he added.

Parameshwara also pointed out that if an institution has failed to implement these measures, it must be instructed to do so. "If there is no committee to look into ragging incidents, the institution has to be instructed. If an FIR or complaint is filed, the local police will take necessary action," he assured.

Karimnagar (Telangana) (PTI): Four farmers died, and three others were injured after tin-roofed sheds and dilapidated structures collapsed in two separate incidents in Mancherial district of Telangana, officials said on Wednesday.

The incidents occurred in two villages of Luxettipet mandal late on Tuesday night, when the farmers were taking shelter in the structures following heavy rain and strong winds.

According to officials, two people died when a shed caved in at Kothuru village.

In a separate incident in Gampalapalli village, two more persons died after another structure collapsed, police and district authorities said.

The three injured were shifted to a hospital in Karimnagar for treatment, police said.

Preliminary reports indicate that unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds weakened the structures, leading to the collapses.

Authorities are assessing the situation, and further investigation is underway.
