Belthangady: Officers of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the Dharmasthala mass burial case, who had brought the complainant-witness CN Chinnaiah to the house of activist Mahesh Shetty Timarodi in Ujire on Tuesday for an inquest, have confiscated various things belonging to Chinnaiah, including his mobile phone, found there.
The SIT got Chinnaiah to the house of Timarodi, activist in the Sowjanya movement, as he had taken shelter in the activist’s house for the last couple of months and had been appearing in the SIT office for the probe since the start of the investigation.
As the complainant-witness has now been arrested under charge of perjury, his phone and clothes, among other things, are confiscated by the SIT officers. The team obtained a search warrant from the Belthangady court on Monday to conduct a probe of Timarodi’s house.
Timarodi and other senior members of the family, however, were not at home when the inquest was conducted, sources have said.
