Hyderabad: The LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation has donated Cardiosave Hybrid Automatic medical equipment to the Mahavir Hospital & Research Centre, which is run by the Bhagwan Mahavir Memorial Trust. The donation was handed over on Friday by Puneet Kumar, LIC Zonal Manager, to Trust Chairman Mahendra Kumar Ranka in a ceremony held at the hospital.

Ranka highlighted that the hospital operates with minimal charges while providing essential medical services. He mentioned that the cardiology department was recently renovated and that the addition of new medical equipment would enhance patient care. Sunil Pahadey, Managing Trustee, expressed gratitude to the LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation for the timely support.

In a separate event at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, Puneet Kumar also presented a vehicle to the Hare Krishna Movement (HKM) Trust, which will be used for transporting cooked food to the underprivileged. The vehicle was received by Mahavishnu Dasa, Vice President of HKM, who praised the Foundation’s ongoing support since 2009 in its food distribution efforts.

Senior LIC officials, including GBV Ramayya and Madhusudan, attended both events.

Mangaluru: Two girl students drowned while bathing near the Kolyadakatta dam area of the Gundya river on Friday evening here in the Kadaba Taluk of the district.

The deceased have been identified as Arpita (15) and Sunita (21), both residents of Vimalagiri in Kutrupadi village.

According to reports, five girl students had visited the river along with their friends as it was a holiday. While bathing in the river, the two students reportedly entered a deeper portion of the water without realising the depth and began drowning.

Those accompanying them tried to rescue the duo, but were unsuccessful, leading to the tragedy.

After receiving information about the incident, Kadaba Police Station personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were later recovered with the help of local residents.
