Maharashtra gangster re-arrested after he organises celebration rally for his release from jail
Notorious gangster Harshad Patankar of Nasik got arrested again after the video of the celebration rally following his release from jail went viral across social media. Under the MPDA Act, Patankar was jailed and released on bail on July 23.
After his release, Patankar's supporters organized a car rally with around 15 two-wheelers participating. The rally started from Bethel Nagar and reached Ambedkar Chowk. The viral footage had Patankar waving to his supporters by standing out of the sunroof of a car. The clips captioned "comeback" went viral on social media.
The rally that was unauthorized had gotten the attention of the authorities, and Patankar was apprehended again with six of his aides on charges of causing chaos and holding an unauthorized event. Reports mention that there are several police cases that have been filed against Patankar, including the charges of attempted murder, theft, and violence.

Unidentified men set fire to TVK campaign office near Srirangam
Tiruchirapalli (PTI): A campaign office of the actor Vijay-led TVK was allegedly torched by unidentified miscreants in Kamanayakkanpalayam village near Srirangam in the early hours of Friday, police said.
According to the police, the damage is minimal. Fire had engulfed the thatched roof providing shade at the entrance of the building that served as the party’s election office for the Srirangam constituency.
While on social media, a CCTV footage of two unidentified men fleeing on motorbike is being circulated as the culprits, police said the video footage is yet to be verified.
Based on a complaint lodged by TVK, the Pettaivaithalai Police have registered a case and initiated a search for the perpetrators.
