One held for burning Constitution's copy: Police
New Delhi, Aug 12 : A youth leader was arrested from Haryana on charge of burning a copy of the Constitution of India and shouting slogan against Dr B.R. Ambedkar at a protest here, police said on Sunday.
Police said accused Deepak Gaur, said to be a member of Arakshan Virodhi Party, was arrested from his hideout in Faridabad on Saturday night for committing the crime during the protest on Parliament Street in Central Delhi on Thursday.
On a complaint of Anil Tanwar of Akhil Bharatiya Bheem Sena, the Delhi Police on Friday registered a case against the Youth for Equality organisation at the Parliament Street police station regarding the crime.
"Leaders of Youth for Equality (Azad Sena) and Arakshan Virodhi Party held a joint protest on the Parliament Street. The protesters led by Deepak Gaur and Abhishekh Shukla were involved in the burning the copy of the Constitution and shouting slogans against Dr Ambedkar," Deputy Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said.
The teams raided their hideouts in Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and arrested Gaur from Faridabad. A manhunt for Shukla and others is on.
"During interrogation, Gaur said that he and Shukla conspired to burn the pages of the Constitution to create a sensation to attract government attention to opposition to amendments in the law pertaining to scheduled castes and tribes," the officer added.
Gaur told police that they along with their supporters burnt a bare act of the Constitution of India and later put on social media a press note on the issue.

Manipur: Mortal remains of children killed in bomb attack handed over to family
Imphal (PTI): The mortal remains of two children, who were killed in a bomb attack in Manipur's Bishnupur district in April, were handed over to family members on Saturday, officials said.
The bodies of the five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister were kept in the morgue for 25 days, as the family members had refused to accept the mortal remains, demanding that the perpetrators be brought to book at the earliest.
On April 25, Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh had appealed to the family members of the children to accept the bodies. Singh had also said that all efforts were underway to find the culprits.
The two children were killed in a bomb attack at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district on April 7. Their bodies were kept in the morgue at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal.
The incident had triggered widespread violent protests in the five valley districts of Manipur, and the case was subsequently handed over to the NIA.
Hundreds of people lined up along the way to Tronglaobi to offer floral tributes, as the mortal remains were taken for the last rites in an open vehicle earlier in the day.
