New Delhi: Following the suicide of 34-year-old Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court, seeking the formation of an expert committee to review and reform existing dowry and domestic violence laws.

The PIL proposes that the committee, headed by a former Supreme Court justice and comprising retired judges, lawyers, and legal experts, should provide recommendations to prevent misuse of these laws.

Singhania, who resides in Delhi with her son, filed an FIR in 2022 accusing Subhash and his family of dowry harassment. The couple had been married since April 2019.
