New Delhi, May 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a firm and emotionally charged address to the nation, made it clear that India will no longer tolerate any form of nuclear blackmail or cross-border terrorism. He said that any terrorist attack on Indian soil would be met with a strong and decisive response — and that response would be on India’s terms.
Speaking about the recent counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, carried out in retaliation to the Pahalgam attack, the Prime Minister said that India had sent a strong message to its enemies. “When Indian missiles and drones attacked those sites in Pakistan, it was not just the buildings of the terrorist organisations that were destroyed, but their courage also collapsed,” he said.
He named Bhawalpur and Muridke in Pakistan as long-standing breeding grounds of global terrorism. “These terrorist sites have functioned like universities of terrorism. Whether it was 9/11 in the United States or major terror attacks in India, these places have had direct or indirect links to all of them,” Modi noted.
Strongly condemning the support these terrorist elements receive from within Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted a disturbing reality. “The world has now witnessed the dirty truth of Pakistan, when senior officers of its army were seen bidding farewell to the terrorists who were killed. There is no clearer proof of state-sponsored terrorism,” he stated.
Referring to the motivation behind the military response, Modi said, “The terrorists had targeted our sisters and daughters in Pahalgam. That’s why India decided to strike at the very heart of terrorism. Over 100 terrorists have been eliminated in Operation Sindoor.”
He ended his address with a powerful message that India will not be bullied or threatened. “No nuclear blackmail will be tolerated anymore. Those who attempt to hurt India will have to face the consequences, and the response will come at a time and place of our choosing.”

New Delhi (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the reduction in the incidence of tuberculosis in India since 2015, which was twice the global rate of decline and credited it to the expansion of treatment coverage.
India's TB incidence, which refers to new cases emerging each year, reduced by 21 per cent, from 237 per lakh population in 2015 to 187 per lakh population in 2024, according to the World Health Organisation's Global TB Report 2025.
The reduction is almost double the pace of the decline observed globally at 12 per cent, the Health Ministry said.
"India's fight against TB is achieving remarkable momentum. The latest WHO Global tuberculosis report 2025 highlights that India has recorded a commendable reduction in TB incidence since 2015 and it is nearly twice the global rate of decline," Modi said in a post on X.
The Prime Minister said the decline in incidence of TB in India was one of the sharpest drops seen anywhere in the world.
"Equally heartening is the expansion of treatment coverage, the fall in 'missing cases' and the sustained rise in treatment success. I compliment all those who have worked towards achieving this success. We remain committed to ensuring a healthy and fit India," Modi said.
