New Delhi: A heart-warming video shared by the Congress party on Monday showed Rahul Gandhi gifting a Indie puppy to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s granddaughter on her birthday.
The gesture, filmed at Kharge’s residence, captured Gandhi arriving with a large gift box that concealed a smaller crate containing the puppy. In the clip, Gandhi is seen unwrapping the gift and gently introducing the puppy to Kharge’s family, before the furry companion is shown playing with the children. Sharing the video on Instagram, the Congress party wrote: “Great love comes in small packages. A birthday gift to remember for Kharge Ji’s granddaughter.”

The moment quickly went viral, drawing praise from many social media users who lauded Gandhi’s decision to adopt and gift a Indie dog. Some even hailed the act as symbolic of compassion, with one user commenting that Gandhi should be considered the “next PM” for such gestures.
However, the video also triggered criticism, particularly regarding animal safety. Several users questioned the lack of visible ventilation in the gift box, raising concerns over placing a live animal in a wrapped package.

Banda (UP) (PTI): Two people were killed and another injured on Sunday morning after their motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV near a village in Naraini area in the district, police said.
The accident took place near Padmai village at around 5 am when all three individuals riding the motorcycle were returning home from a wedding ceremony, Naraini SHO Sandeep Tiwari said.
According to the police, the motorcyclist, Ajay Rajput, 24, a resident of Barua Kalinjar village, died on the spot, while his cousin, Prabha, 20, passed away at the hospital during treatment.
His brother-in-law, Rakesh, 23, who sustained critical injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at the Banda Medical College, police said.
The police have seized the SUV and registered a case in connection with the incident, the SHO said.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for a post-mortem, police said.
