Mumbai: Renowned playback singer and music director Sonu Nigam recently voiced his disappointment after politicians, including Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, left his performance midway at the Rising Rajasthan event in Jaipur.
Taking to social media, Nigam shared a video urging politicians to either stay for the entire event or refrain from attending altogether. He highlighted the disrespect faced by artistes due to such actions, calling it an insult to Goddess Saraswati. Nigam stated, “In the middle of the show, CM saab and others left. Soon after, many delegates followed. This behaviour sets a poor example for the public.”
Nigam also drew comparisons with international practices, stating that he had never seen leaders abroad leave events midway without prior notice. He requested dignitaries to leave before the show begins if they cannot stay for the full duration.
Nigam's sister, Teesha Nigam, and fans supported his statement, with many appreciating his courage to address the issue publicly.
