Rare ‘Labubu’ doll fetches ₹9.15 lakh in resale frenzy, 125 times its original price
A rare Labubu doll has been sold for an astonishing ₹9.15 lakh ($10,500) on eBay, making it the most expensive Labubu ever sold. Originally priced at ₹7,400 ($85), the grey-brownish figure, sporting Vans streetwear and a cap reading “The Monsters” is now 125 times more valuable in the resale market.
The toy, part of Pop Mart's 2023 blind box collection in collaboration with Vans, was initially released without buyers knowing which doll they would receive. Typically sold for ₹1,744 to ₹3,488 ($20–$40), Labubu dolls created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung are based on characters from The Monsters, a series inspired by Nordic fairy tales.
The dolls’ viral fame took off after K-pop icon Lisa from Blackpink was seen with one, followed by celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Dua Lipa. This surge in popularity has helped Pop Mart CEO Wang Ning become the 10th richest person in China.
Labubu doll is also linked in online conspiracy theories to the Mesopotamian demon Pazuzu, with some claiming the toys possess "demonic energy." Pop Mart responded playfully, issuing an April Fools’ Day mock "recall notice" referencing the rumors of supernatural activity.

4 held for sexually assaulting woman, girl on moving bus after social media alert in UP's Agra
Agra (UP) (PTI): Four people were arrested, after a prompt response by police following a social media alert, for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and a girl inside a moving bus here, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an official police statement, at 12:27 am on April 27, information was received on the social media platform X about an incident of sexual assault on a bus travelling from Kanpur to Ahmedabad, which was approaching Namner crossing in Agra.
Acting under the direction of Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar, the Agra Police social media team immediately alerted the Rakabganj police station within minutes and coordinated with the victims to confirm the incident and obtain the exact location, it stated.
Police teams launched intensive checking at Namner crossing and intercepted the bus as it reached the spot. The four accused involved in the incident were apprehended on the spot, and legal action was initiated against them, the statement said.
The police said the swift response and coordination between the social media team and field units ensured timely action, bringing relief to the victims and other passengers, who expressed gratitude towards the police, it added.
