RSS Website Slams Modi, Praises Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan For Flood Relief Efforts In Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-linked (RSS) Malayalam weekly, Kesari, pulled down an editorial from its website which criticised the Modi government’s handling of the Kerala floods, News 18 reported. It even slammed the Centre for giving “political colour” to the crisis.
“Someone has hacked into and published an article in place of the editorial on the official website of Kesari. It was dated August 22. However, the latest issue, an Onam special, will be dated August 24. The article posted on the website which alleged discrimination towards Kerala from the union government has nothing to do with the weekly. A complaint has been lodged with the police and cyber cell,” said NR Madhu, the editor of the weekly, in a statement late on Wednesday night.
Interestingly, the article praised Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan while noting that the BJP government did not reciprocate the political decency shown by the Kerala chief minister.
“The Union government has been made aware that a significant number of Sangh followers, especially in the Aranmula and Chengannur areas where we have a strong presence, have been affected by the floods. However, the whole of Kerala is being punished for small political gains,” said the article.
Vijayan had sought Rs. 2,000 crore as assistance from the central government- less than half of what the Modi government has spent on advertising. However, Modi announced a financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to the state on August 18 after reviewing the flood situation. This amount was in addition to Rs 100 crore announced by Home Minister Rajnath Singh on August 12.

Double-decker electric bus gutted in fire at Kurla BEST depot
Mumbai (PTI): An empty double-decker electric bus was gutted in a fire during servicing at a BEST depot in Mumbai's Kurla area on Sunday, officials said, adding that nobody was injured.
The blaze broke out inside the Kurla BEST bus depot near Kanakia Building at 4.14 pm, according to preliminary information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
The parked bus was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, they said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, officials added.
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has hired 50 electric double-decker buses from Switch Mobility in its fleet of around 2,700 buses.
