Rajgarh: In a horrific incident, a 32-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district was allegedly assaulted by her husband and in-laws, who burned her private parts with a hot iron rod and applied chilli powder.

The victim, an ASHA worker, alleged that her ordeal began when a neighbour, identified as Rohit Ruhela, entered her home asking for a steam machine and then attempted to sexually assault her. This angered her in-laws, who accused her of bringing dishonour to the family, as reported by the Times of India on Saturday.

She was subjected to physical violence by her husband and in-laws, as they suspected her of being in a relationship with the neighbour.

“Blaming me, the sister-in-law called my father-in-law and mother-in-law. All three of them stripped me naked on the cold night and beat me with kicks, punches, and sticks. I became unconscious,” the victim stated in her complaint.

The mother-in-law allegedly burned the victim's private parts, thighs, and other parts of her body with a hot iron rod, while the father-in-law applied chilli powder to her private parts.

The excruciating pain led her to faint. When she regained consciousness, her father-in-law and husband took her on a bike and abandoned the victim near a police station.

A local man noticed the injured woman and informed her family about the incident, who then filed a police complaint.

The victim, who has four daughters and one son, is now seeking the return of her children, who are currently in the custody of her in-laws, added the report.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 74 for assault on a woman, Section 64 for rape, and Section 3(5) for common intentions.
