New Delhi: Team India head coach and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir has reportedly lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police after receiving a death threat via email, which read: “I kill you.”

Gambhir received two identical threatening emails on Tuesday—one in the afternoon and another in the evening. Disturbed by the messages, he immediately approached the police and filed a formal complaint for an FIR while seeking enhanced security measures for his family, as reported by India Today on Thursday.

The cyber cell is working to trace the email’s origin and identify the perpetrator. This marks not the first time Gambhir has faced such intimidation; a similar threat was reported in November 2021 during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.

The threat comes just days after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. Gambhir condemned the incident on Tuesday via X, writing: “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.”

Gambhir has urged law enforcement authorities to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and security of himself and his family.
