Hyderabad, Sep 6 : Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Thursday dissolved the state Assembly on a recommendation by the state cabinet.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao called on the Governor and presented the resolution of the Council of Ministers, recommending the dissolution of the first Legislative Assembly of Telangana state, said a statement from Raj Bhavan.

The Governor while accepting the recommendation requested Rao and his Council of Ministers to continue in office as caretaker government. Rao has agreed, added the statement.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in five out of the seven seats where counting of votes for the by-elections is currently underway, according to early trends.

In Maharashtra’s Baramati, Sunetra Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party is in the lead.

In Karnataka’s Bagalkot constituency, Congress candidate Umesh Meti is ahead.

The counting process is ongoing, and final results are yet to be declared.
