Bhopal: Authorities at Dr Laxmi Narayan Pandey Government Medical College in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, have expelled two second-year MBBS students from the hostel for the duration of their course following allegations of ragging a junior.
The students, identified as Amolik and Ayushman, allegedly entered the first-year students’ hostel late on Wednesday night in an inebriated condition, at a time when no security guard was present. Inside, they are reported to have consumed more alcohol, harassed junior students, cut the hair of one first-year student and issued threats of severe consequences if the matter was reported.
Despite the threats, the affected students informed the hostel warden, Dr Devendra Chauhan, who is also an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery. The incident was reviewed by the college’s anti-ragging committee on Thursday morning.
Following deliberations, the panel barred one student from academic activities for a year and the other for six months, in addition to expelling both from the hostel for the remainder of their MBBS course as reported by the New Indian Express.
